The Details:

The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) will be part of our test automation team in developing and maintaining a suite of automated tests. The Senior SDET will also work collaboratively with the Product, Development and QE teams in developing testing solutions across the Palomar’s products. 

Senior SDET will be responsible for implementing Quality Engineering best practices for test automation, working closely with agile teams and integrating tests into a CI/CD pipeline.

What will you do?: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test      suites to ensure robust and scalable testing solutions.
  • Integrate automated tests into a CI/CD pipeline, enabling seamless      and efficient delivery of high-quality software.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers and agile teams to      identify test automation candidates and implement effective testing      strategies.
  • Work closely with development teams to understand application      architecture and design, facilitating effective risk-based testing and      quality engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with Product, Development, DevOps, and QE      Teams to implement testing solutions that accelerate development,      product release, and regression testing efforts.
  • Promote and implement coding best practices across the team,      ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and reusable code.
  • Conduct peer reviews of code to identify bugs, improve code      quality, and ensure adherence to standards, leveraging GitHub as the      version control system for collaboration and review processes.
  • Assess the risks of various solutions and prioritize      competing business demands to deliver optimal outcomes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Test      Automation regarding platforms, development, and processes, providing      technical leadership and guidance.
  • Provide mentorship to SDETs and Quality Engineers, fostering a      culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the      team.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation within code and in      non-technical terms, including detailed best practices, test script      summaries, and video recordings in appropriate Palomar approved platforms      fostering team collaboration.

What we are looking for:

  • Education & Experience: BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering,      or equivalent experience with 5+ years in software testing, quality      engineering or software engineering.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong experience in test automation       using tools like Selenium WebDriver and Selenium       Grid for distributed and remote execution across multiple       environments.
    • Advanced proficiency       in Java with expertise in OOP, multi-threading,       concurrency, and performance optimization.
    • Hands-on experience       with SQL for database validation and testing.
    • Experience working with version control       systems like GitHub, including managing repositories, branching,       merging, and collaborating on code.
    • Working knowledge of Docker, including       creating Docker images, containerization, and deploying containerized       applications in Azure or similar cloud platforms.
    • Working knowledge of DevOps       practices and experience with CI/CD       tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
    • Strong understanding of modern       development technologies, including microservices       architecture and RESTful APIs, with experience in API testing       methodologies.
    • Experience implementing the Page       Object Model (POM) design pattern in test automation frameworks to       enhance maintainability and reduce code duplication.
  • Platform Versatility: 
    • Familiarity       with testing across multiple application platforms, such       as Pega, Salesforce, or other BPM/CRM systems, is highly       desirable.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Experience with performance       testing tools is a plus.
    • Background in Insurance or Financial       Services industries is a bonus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and collaboration       skills, both verbal and written.
    • Proven ability to work in Agile       development environments and deliver quality results in dynamic,       fast-paced settings.
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and       self-motivated, with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong time management and ability to       support multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Experience mentoring team members to       enhance their technical skills, industry and product knowledge

Pay Range: $118,000-$177,000

The above pay range is for all US-based roles based on function and level, benchmarked against companies of similar size and scope. To be compliant with local legislation as well as provide greater transparency to candidates, we disclose salary ranges on all job postings regardless of the desired job location. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and the opportunity for annual long-term incentive stock grants. In addition, we offer a highly competitive benefits package. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and qualifications, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
