The Details:
We are seeking a high-performing technical leader to join our Actuarial team as AVP, Actuarial Analytics. This is a hands-on coding role focused on building the tools, datasets, and model pipelines that power pricing, reserving, and reinsurance decisions. You’ll lead the development of reproducible analytical workflows, automation, and predictive modeling platforms that enable scalable and transparent actuarial insights. This role sits within the Actuarial organization and is designed for someone who understands actuarial thinking and can bring it to life through robust, production-grade code. You will be a core builder and architect translating actuarial concepts into real-world impact.
What will you do? (Job Duties)
· Serve as lead architect for the Chief Actuarial Officer’s technical vision, owning the implementation of actuarial automation tools and modeling platforms.
· Design and build reproducible pipelines for reserving, pricing, and reinsurance analysis in R, Python, and SQL.
· Construct actuarial-specific datasets that blend raw enterprise data with modeling-ready actuarial features and assumptions.
· Collaborate with data engineers to clarify the hand-off between enterprise data infrastructure and actuarial data products.
· Build tools and frameworks to support actuarial workflows such as triangle generation, loss modeling, reinsurance allocation, etc.
· Support the ceded reinsurance team with technical solutions and dataset structuring.
· Mentor mid-level team members and oversee architectural design reviews.
· Contribute to strategic thinking on how to evolve the actuarial tech stack and tooling roadmap.
What we are looking for: (Experience)
· 8+ years working closely with actuaries, ideally within a pricing, reserving, or reinsurance function.
· Expert-level proficiency in at least two of the following: R, Python, SQL — with strong software development fundamentals (version control, testing, CI/CD).
· Proven ability to go from 0 ? 1 in ambiguous technical environments.
· Deep understanding of actuarial workflows and the unique needs of actuarial modeling.
· Strong communication skills and the ability to act as a bridge between actuaries and IT/data engineering teams.
· Thrives in dynamic, fast-changing environments with minimal red tape.
· Prior experience mentoring or managing technical staff is a plus.
We love people who want to:
· Build strong relationships through transparency, trust, and respect for each other
· Work in an agile environment, with a resilient mindset to find creative solutions to challenges
· Collaborate and celebrate diverse perspectives, promoting inclusivity and equality.
· Do the right thing with strong conviction and integrity
· Be bold and innovative to help make an impact
· Zoom in and out between strategic and tactical
· Demonstrable track record of working autonomously and driving progress
· Be intellectually curious, think creatively, and pragmatic
· Be hands on with their team and roll up their sleeves
· Lead with empathy and support personal and professional development
· Empower people to continue to grow and see a bigger picture
What will you get in return?
· Full Suite of Medical Benefits
· Long Term Financial Incentives: All team members receive company equity.
· 401k with 3.5% automatic fully vested Employer Contribution
· Competitive PTO + Holiday Program
· Hybrid Work Environment
· Lifestyle Spending Account
· Professional Development Assistance
· Career Exploration Opportunities
· Regular company-wide social events (even virtually!)
