We are Hiring! Financial Reporting Manager

The Details: The Financial Reporting Manager will report to the VP, FP&A and SEC Reporting. 

Financial Reporting Knowledge: This position is responsible for assisting others in understanding the Company’s financial results by handling all things financial reporting- including reporting budget to actual results, internal financial packages, ad-hoc reporting, and SEC financial statement preparation and review.

Detail Oriented: The right candidate works extremely quickly and efficiently, while producing accurate work and maintaining excellent attention to detail. 

What will you do?: 

· Preparation of the Company’s monthly financial reporting package and SEC financial statements (i.e. 10-Ks and 10-Qs);

· Reporting actual financial information compared to expectations and reporting key financial trends and drivers of variances;

· Preparation and maintenance of footnote workbooks to support the SEC reporting process and oversight of the SEC financial statement tie out;

· Performance of internal controls associated with the financial reporting process;

· Interface with auditors, provide support and respond to auditor inquiries around financial reporting;

· Assist with other SEC related matters (e.g. 8-Ks, proxy statement, form 4s, etc);

· Possibly assist with equity administration process and investment accounting process;

· Support special projects and perform ad-hoc analyzes as needed;

· Seek and implement improvements to the reporting process to make it more efficient and more relevant to stakeholders

Who you are: 

· Ability to analyze results, trends, and data at the lowest level of detail and present the findings to senior management in a succinct and understandable fashion;

· Detail-oriented and methodical approach to tasks;

· Comfort with change and ambiguity; our business is predicated on being adaptable and moving quickly to seize opportunities;

· Ability to provide quality work on tight deadlines; while we will make every effort to plan, sometimes things come up and we need to work quickly to meet our deadlines;

· Must strike the correct balance of working hard and taking work seriously, while being an approachable, helpful, and nice teammate

What we are looking for: 

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting;

· At least 3 years’ experience in public accounting, a combination of public accounting and private company financial reporting experience, or significant experience in financial reporting for an insurance company;

· An insurance background may help but is not required. Must be willing to learn our business in detail and constantly refine understanding as the business evolves;

· Extremely solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles is a must.  CPA or progress there to is a plus;

· Solid understanding of consolidation principles would be extremely helpful;

· Experience extracting data from an accounting system (we use Intacct) and quickly summarizing and analyzing this data would be a plus;

· Experience with SEC reporting and/or an SEC reporting tool would be a plus;
